Cougar softball overpowers Bulls in game one

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Houston softball team used two home runs in the first two innings to power their way past the USF Bulls, en route to a 7-3 win in game one of a double header in Tampa, Fla.
The Cougar win snapped a 26-game home win streak by USF. Houston joins only Michigan State and Florida Atlantic as the only teams to beat the Bulls at home this year.
Jenilee Skender got the Cougars on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run to center field. The blast scored Kim Nesloney who had reached on a walk to start the game and had gotten to third base on a Jamie Adams sacrifice and a Kristen Glowacz groundout.
Houston put the game out of reach in the second inning, on an opposite field grand slam by Kristen Glowacz. The home run knocked in Adams, Nesloney and Lindsay Durham.
Jeanie Davis provided Houston with an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning with a double which knocked in Arelis Ferreris who had gotten to first base on a single to center field.
Crystal Briscoe picked up the win for Houston, throwing a complete game, giving up three runs on three hits while striking out one and walking two.
