Cougar softball drops game two against USF

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Houston softball team was not able to continue the hot hitting they had in game one of their double header with USF, dropping game two 3-0.
Neither the Bulls or Cougars could get anything going early in the game, but USF was able to get on the board in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Samantha Ray reached on an infield single and scored on sacrifice fly by Carmela Lawig.
The Bulls added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead which the Cougars were not able to overcome.
Carla Kennimer took the loss for Houston, falling to 5-4 on the year, giving up one earned run on four hits while striking out two Bulls. Jenny Johnson pitched two and two thirds innings for Houston, giving up no runs on two hits.
The Cougars and the Bulls will finish the series Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
