University of Houston junior sprinter Stanford Routt, a 2003 All-American and the 2004 Conference USA Male Athlete of the Year, will compete in both the men's 60-meter and 200-meter dashes this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
Routt enters this weekend's championships ranked seventh in the men's 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 6.65 seconds, run at the Houston Indoor Invitational on Feb. 7, and eighth in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 20.84 seconds, an NCAA-automatic mark, which he ran in capturing gold at the C-USA Championships on Feb. 28.
Houston's top sprinter and a two-sport athlete - he also plays for the Cougar football team - Routt has set at least an NCAA-provisional mark in every race he has run this indoor season - including both prelims and finals - in both the 60m and 200m dashes.
The NCAA Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas, will take place at the Randal Tyson Track Center from March 12-13.
