Hey baseball fans.
I haven't written in a couple of weeks do the large amount of travelling we've been doing and the tests in between. The season has not been going to plan so far, but there is a quote that keeps the team motivated and it's "It's not where you start; it's where you finish."
Last year was a prime example of that. The team is not panicking but has certainly increased its sense of urgency after the poor showing in San Diego. The new stadium there was really nice, but I felt it is nowhere near the playing surface at Minute Maid Park.
School is still hectic even during Spring Break because we've been out of town for so long. Many of us are trying to play catch up, but it always seems that we never can. We leave again for Southern Miss on Thursday and begin Conference. I feel things are going to begin to go our way this weekend so stay tuned.
Hyung Cho sends his greetings by the way. He's in Arizona at spring training with the Mariners.
This week, I'm going to talk about Gene Flores. Gene happens to be the only other guy on the team that has been here for four years with me which is quite astonishing considering we came in with eleven other freshmen in 2001. He's a native of Del Rio, Texas, and moved to Corpus Christi in high school.
I've gone to Del Rio with Gene and met a lot of his family and friends. I have never seen people so eager to show you a good time and come through every time. Gene is a good friend, and we have been through a lot together on the baseball field and off. Watch out though because he has this knack for telling things that are not true, but only when he's trying to joke with you.
