Softball opens season at Texas Round Robin

HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team will begin the 2004 campaign Friday afternoon at the Texas Round Robin hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. The Cougars will begin play at 1 p.m. when they take on Sam Houston State University, then face UT-Arlington at 3 p.m. Texas and UH will meet Saturday at noon before bracket play begins.
Houston enters the weekend with a combined 6-7 against Sam Houston State, UT-Arlington and the University of Texas. They hold a 3-1 series record of the Bearkats from SHSU, a 3-2 advantage over the Roadrunners while the Longhorns have won all five of the meetings between the two squads.
The Cougars were selected third in the Conference USA pre season poll and have four C-USA Pre Season First Team selections in pitcher Jamie Falco, catcher Arelis Ferreris, infielder Kristen Glowacz and DP Jenilee Skender.
