Rain Forces Cancellation of Beau Chene Collegiate Golf Classic

MANDEVILLE, La. - The University of Houston golf team will wait a little longer to resume its 2004 season as heavy rains on Monday forced the cancellation of the Beau Chene Collegiate Classic in Mandeville, La.
UH was one of 15 teams scheduled to compete on the 6,725-yard, par-72 course at Beau Chene Country Club. An attempt was made Monday morning to begin the one-day, 36-hole event, but as conditions continued to deteriorate, officials canceled play.
The cancellation was only the second in the 15-year history of the event. The tournament was also canceled due to weather in 1997.
The Cougars return to action on March 15-16 when they compete at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas.
