HOUSTON - Kristen Glowacz blasted two home runs and the University of Houston softball team had a breakout game offensively in their fourth game of the Crowne Plaza Classic Saturday night, picking up a 12-2 win over Indiana University.
Glowacz, who set a school single season record for home runs in 2003, picked up her first four bagger of the season with a line drive shot in the first inning to give the Cougars an early 1-0 lead. Houston added to the lead in the second inning, taking advantage of a Hoosier error by picking up three more runs for a 4-0 lead.
The four run cushion was all senior pitcher needed to pick up her third win of the season. Falco tossed three and one thirds innings before giving way to Jenny Johnson and Carla Kennimer.
Houston added another run in the third inning on a Candis Turbo RBI which knocked in Arelis Ferreris. The sixth inning saw more Cougar offense as Houston picked up three runs and closed the game with a four run rally in the seventh inning.
The win gives Houston a 10-5 record for the season and a 2-2 record in the Crowne Plaza Classic. The Cougars will be in action again Sunday afternoon when they take on the Manhattan Jaspers at 1 p.m. at Cougar Field in the final game of the tournament.
