CHICAGO, Ill. - Playing against the University of DePaul in Chicago, the Houston volleyball team fell in four games 28-30, 22-30, 30-27 and 30-25 as the Cougars fell to 3-5 in Conference USA and the Blue Demons improved to 3-4.
After starting out the C-USA season at 3-1, the Cougars have dropped their last four matches to conference opponents. The Blue Demons had amassed a 1-8 record in their last nine outings before snapping that streak with their win on Saturday.
As it was on Friday night, the trio of sophomore Kelly McAnelly and Becca Sartori along with senior Loure Dews, turned in strong outings for the Cougars.
McAnelly led all participants with her eighth double double of the year, recording 22 kills and a career high 20 digs in the loss. Sartori added 10 ills and three blocks while Dews chipped in 14 kills.
On the night, the Cougars were out blocked by the Blue Demons 18-4, DePaul's Janet Goreham caused most of the problems for Houston with 16 kills, 11 digs and 13 blocks on the evening.
Houston returns home next week for their longest and final home stand of the season, a six-game stand that begins with Northwestern State on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
