Softball Starts Fall Season With Wins

HOUSTON - In the first tournament of the 2004 Fall Softball Season for the Cougars, Houston posted a 2-1 record in games against Galveston, San Jacinto and Blinn.
Against Galveston in the first game of the tournament, sophomore Carla Kennimer pitched seven innings and recorded five strikeouts, while allowing only three hits and no runs to get the 7-0 win for the Cougars.
Facing San Jacinto, it was junior Crystal Briscoe on the mound who earned the shutout with seven innings pitched that included seven strikeouts and three hits. The offensive firepower came from senior Kristen Glowacz who posted a homerun and a double, while teammate senior Michelle Keith went 3-for-3 at the plates with three singles
Houston's first loss of the tournament came against Blinn in a 1-0 battle. Freshman Barbie Love had a strong showing in the game as she went seven innings with eight strikeouts and no earned runs.
Houston next plays in the Spring Klein College Classic in Spring Klein, Texas.
