HOUSTON, Texas - The Cougars held practice indoors Thursday afternoon in the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse for two hours, in preparation for their game with The University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Cougars head into Saturday night looking for their first road win of the season after falling, 50-3, at fifth-ranked Michigan last Saturday. Cougar head coach Art Briles said his team will be ready for Saturdays match up with the Ragin' Cajuns.
"I'm anticipating great effort, great intensity and great focus," Briles said. "That's the way we approached this week. We approached it as a workman like week, where we've been determined and we're going to play that way."
Briles said he expects a good game from the Cajuns.
"I know they're going to play real hard," he said. "They take a lot of pride in their defense and they're explosive on offense. It's an interesting place to play, so it's going to be a great challenge for us."
With the first two games of the year in the rear view mirror, Briles said the Cougars need to focus on the games ahead of them, starting with Louisiana Lafayette.
"We've got to realize we have 10 games in front of us and we need to win them all, win the Conference championship and go to the Liberty Bowl," Briles said. "We have to improve each week and become a disciplined, determined football team that gives outstanding effort each snap.
"We've had a great week of practice on both sides of the ball, now we've got to carry it over to Saturday and make it equal a win."
