Volleyball Spikes Texas-San Antonio at Baylor Classic

WACO, Texas - The University of Houston volleyball team bounced back from a 3-1 loss to Baylor Friday night, knocking off the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners 3-1, finishing the weekend 2-1.
Freshman Becca Sartori led the way for the Cougars with a match-high 24 kills, while fellow freshman Kelly McAnelly chipped in with 20 kills. Cinthia Piva added 17 kills and 25 digs for Houston while Mirela Vasconcellos and Lauren Grover passed out 39 and 26 assists respectively. Libero Jaci Gonzales finished the match with 21 digs.
After winning game one of the match, the Roadrunners took game two 33-31, but the Cougars rallied to finish the match, winning 30-23 and 30-24.
McAnelly and Sartori both had solid tournaments in their first action on the collegiate level, being names to the All-Tournament team. Sartori finished the tournament averaging 16 kills per match, while McAnelly averaged 20 kills and 10.3 digs per match.
The Cougars will be in action again Friday when they take on Notre Dame at the Longhorn Classic in Austin.
