HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Houston today brought their preseason football camp to an official end with practices in both the morning and afternoon. The Cougars practiced for close to two hours outside, running through several physical drills and working diligently on their pass offense and run defense. In the afternoon the Cougars came indoors and ran through a light workout for a little over an hour.
With his first UH camp under his belt, Cougar head football coach Art Briles feels good about the last three weeks for work.
"It's an uplifting experience when (camp) is over," commented Briles. "First of all, we came out of (camp) relatively injury-free. We've had a few bumps along the way
"Now we finally get to shut up and put up. We are getting closer to game week, and heck, a week from tomorrow we'll be right there playing, hopefully in front of a full stadium, and we'll get out there and see what we can do."
Briles and his staff are giving the Cougars the next two days off to rest and prepare not only for the first practice of game week, but also the first day of classes on Monday, August 25. Houston will play host to Rice on Saturday, August 30, in the annual Administaff Bayou Bucket at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
