HOUSTON, Texas -
The Cougars held a morning workout for little over an hour indoors in just helmets and shorts before hitting the field for a two-hour practice in full pads outdoors. UH spent the first 30 minutes of the afternoon practice working out in the rain, but despite the showers UH head coach Art Briles likes what he sees so far.
"The morning was good and active with a good weight session," said Briles. "This afternoon the weather was a bit funky at times, so we had to work through that, which was good. We finished on a high note. We did a little down and distance work, offensively, which we haven't done this year, and any time you have a little change, it throws you off.
"I like our team. I like the personality of our team. We have guys that have hunger in their eyes, and we're not going to feed them until the 30th."
The Cougars will have one workout tomorrow afternoon, and then take part in one more on Friday morning before taking part in their only scrimmage of the preseason later Friday afternoon.
