TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Houston golf team returns to action Monday in the first round of the Conference USA Championships.
UH will play 18 holes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Tampa, Fla. Tee time for each day of competition will be at 7 a.m (CDT).
The Cougars come into the tournament off a 10th-place finish at the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational where Brett Callas led the team with a 7-under-par 65 in the final round to tie for 11th place. He became only the 11th player in school history to shoot a 65 or better.
UH has won the Conference USA tournament five out of the last six years and finished as the league runner-up in 2002.
Last year, senior Simon Robinson led all Cougars with a third-place finish and was named to the Conference USA All-Tournament Team for the second straight season.
Senior John Wine leads the Cougars with the lowest scoring average (73.6). Wine is also coming off an impressive finish at the ASU Invitational where he finished tied for 17th place and capped the event with a 5-under-par 67 in the final round.
TCU won the team competition last year and also took home individual medallist honors with Bret Guetz.
