HOUSTON - After dominating the Bearcats of Cincinnati in a three-game series last weekend, the University of Houston baseball team looks to continue that winning streak against the Bearkats of Sam Houston State at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Holleman Field in Huntsville, Texas.
The game can be heard live over the Internet at www.UHcougars.com with pregame slated begin at 1:45 p.m.
The Cougars (11-13) come into the game on the heels of a three-game sweep of Cincinnati last weekend. In that series, UH hit .471 as a team and pounded out 56 hits with 23 of those going for extra bases, including 16 doubles and six home runs.
Junior third baseman Hyung Cho leads the team with a .372 batting average and joined outfielder Gabe Lucas atop the team standings with three home runs. Both Lucas and Cho blasted two home runs each at Cincinnati.
UH head coach Rayner Noble, now in his ninth season as the Cougar skipper, has not announced a starter for Tuesday's game.
SHSU owns a 71-63 advantage in the all-time series but the Cougars bring a three-game winning streak over the Bearkats into Tuesday's game. A year ago, UH pitchers struggled in the first inning but rallied to face the minimum 24 batters over the final eight innings in a 6-1 win at Cougar Field on April 24, 2002.
This will be the first time since 1999 that the Cougars have played SHSU in Huntsville. The Bearkats are 27-20 against the Cougars on their home field.
SHSU (11-14) enters the game after being swept at Southland Conference rival Louisiana-Monroe last weekend. Sophomore third baseman Jonathan Stone leads the team with a .364 batting average, while senior infielder Lou Ferrell tops the Bearkats with 32 RBIs. Junior catcher Andrew Kasparek leads the team with five home runs.
