Houston defeats Washington, 79-64

Houston, Texas - Andre Owens scored a game high 22 points and Anwar Ferguson recorded his second double double of the season to lead the University of Houston to a 79-64 victory over Washington Saturday night in Hofheinz Pavilion.
Owens scored 17 of his points in the first half as Houston jumped out to a 42-31 lead at halftime.
Washington opened the second half with a 6-0 run in the first four minutes to make the score 42-37 with 16 minutes left to play. But, Owens hit a three-pointer from 23 feet out on the left wing to put Houston back up by eight. 45-37
Washington came right back with another 8-1 run to close to within 46-45 with 11:14 left to play before Ferguson made two free throws and Lanny Smith hit a trey to give the Cougars a 51-46 lead. Houston extended its lead to 58-51 with 6:15 and went on to win the game.
Ferguson ended the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds and a career-best eight blocked shots. Marcus Oliver also scored 13 points.
The victory evened Houston's record to 3-3 after winning its third straight home game and posting its third win in the last four games. Washington fell to 3-3 after suffering its third straight loss.
Houston plays host to Chicago State on December 23 before closing out their five game home stand against Texas A&M on December 27 and LSU on December 30. All three games tip off at 7:30 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
