Houston, Texas-- - The University of Houston football team concluded its preparations for Saturday's game at Louisville with a one and a half-hour workout in shorts and pads on the UH practice fields before conditioning work inside UH's weight room.
"We have had a lively week of practice," Houston head coach Art Briles said. "We've had a lot of energy and the players are still hungry. That's the important thing."
The Cougars enter the game bowl eligible for the first time since 1998 after recording their sixth win of the season at Army last week.
"We feel that we have turned the corner after getting bowl eligible," Houston head coach Art Briles said. "Now, we just want to press on the throttle." Houston will be looking to improve to 7-4 when the Cougars at Louisville and Briles hoping his team can close out the season on a positive note.
"We hope to be going to a bowl game with an 8-4 record, "Briles said. "We know they are a good team and are well coached. But, we feel that we can play too. We just need to go out, get after it and see what happens."
His team has accomplished one goal his coaching staff set before the season.
"We wanted our seniors to go out on a positive note," Briles said. "They have given us excellent leadership all year and it was important to our staff they enjoy some success and leave college football with a good taste in their mouths. Now, we are real close to making that a reality."
After traveling to Louisville, Houston returns home to play host to UAB at 4:00 p.m. on November 29 at John O'Quinn Field.
