Francheska Ketchum Signs With Lady Cougars

Houston, Texas- - University of Houston track and field coach Leroy Burrell announced that senior High School All-American Francheska Ketchum of Elsik High School has signed to compete for the Lady Cougars in 2004-05.
Track and Field News named Ketchum a 2003 High School All-American as a junior after she won her second Texas Class 5A State championship in the long jump with a mark of 20-0.75. She also was the 2002 state long jump champion as a sophomore with a career-best mark of 20-8.75.
In addition to winning the two long jump titles, Ketchum won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.97 seconds and was a member of Elsik's national record-setting 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams. Both teams were named the best in the nation by Track and Field News.
Ketchum helped Elsik's 4x100-meter relay team set the national record of 44.63 seconds at the Great Southwest Championships and win the 4x100-meter relay at the state meet with a time of 44.90 seconds. She also ran on Elsik's 4x200-meter relay team that won the 2003 State title with a time of 1:34.51 to set a second national record.
