Houston, Texas- - The University of Houston football team continued its preparation for this week's Conference USA game against intrastate rival TCU with a two and 1/2 hour workout Wednesday afternoon.
"We had a good practice today," Houston head coach Art Briles said. "We showed a lot of focus, determination and toughness."
The Cougars come into Saturday night's game against the 13th-ranked Horned Frogs looking to bounce back from a 45-14 setback against Memphis last weekend at Robertson Stadium. It was Houston's first home loss of the season as the Cougars enter the TCU game with a 2-1 record at home and a 5-2 overall record. Houston is 2-1 in C-USA play this year.
"We don't have time to hang our heads because we have a big game ahead of us this Saturday," Briles said. "We are at the point where we need to step up to the top of the ladder and we are about 3/4 of the way up to the top rung."
Saturday night's game will be Houston's second straight home game in a three-game homestand. The Cougars also play Southern Miss in their annual Homecoming game on November 8. Houston closes out the regular season at Army on November 15 and at Louisville on November 22 before closing out the regular season with a home game against UAB on November 29.
