HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Houston Football team continued its preparations for Saturday's game against the Memphis Tigers at 7 p.m. at Robertson Stadium, with a two-hour practice Wednesday afternoon.
According to head coach Art Briles, the Cougars (5-1, 2-0 C-USA) are ready for Saturday.
"We're ready right now," Briles said. "We're where we need to be. At this stage in the season we refine what we're doing, work on intensity and intelligence and get to the game and play on Saturday. Our guys are focused and ready to represent our home turf."
Memphis is similar to Houston's last opponent, Tulane, in that they have a high-powered, quick tempo offense. Briles said there is some advantage to facing the two teams in back-to-back weeks.
"I think it helps a little bit," Briles said. "They're the same style of offense to some degree as Tulane but every team is a little different. We'll have to make adjustments like we did last week, so it will just be a deal where we have to go out there and make plays."
No matter what the Tigers bring to the table on Saturday, Briles knows his team will have to continue to play solid in all areas if they want to win.
"We're going to have to play sound football, offense, defense and special teams," Briles said. "They've got a good football team. They're well coached, well disciplined and well schemed so what we have to do is go out and do what we do best. That's play physical, play intense and get out of there with a win."
