Houston Tennis Makes its 2002 Fall Debut

Tuscaloosa, Alabama -- The University of Houston women's tennis team opened fall tournament play this past weekend at the University of Alabama Fall Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Competition wrapped up Sunday afternoon. Due to rain, only doubles were played on Friday, and singles were played on Saturday and Sunday. The Cougars brought two doubles teams into the tournament and finished a respective third and seventh place. Ani Longoni / Karine Urbin finished third and Sandra Blajer / Christina Flores finished seventh.
On Sunday, the final round of singles wrapped with Miranda Foley finished third, Ani Longoni finished fourth, Sandra Blajer finished sixth, Karine Urbin finished seventh and Christina Flores finished eighth to round out the invitational.
The Cougars will return to Houston on October 11-13 as they host nine teams in the 2002 Cougar Fall Classic at the John E. Hoff/Varsity Tennis Courts on UH's campus.

Flight "F" Sandra Blajer (UH) lost Erin Gray (Auburn) 2-6, 0-6, 3-6
