Houston Tennis Makes its 2002 Fall Debut

Tuscaloosa, Alabama -- The University of Houston women's tennis team opened fall tournament play today at the University of Alabama Fall Invitational in Tuscaloosa. Competition and will wrap up Sunday afternoon. Due to rain only doubles were able to play today, but singles will begin play on Saturday. The Cougars brought two teams into the tournament and finished a respective 3rd and 7th place. Longoni/Urbin finished 3rd and Blajer/Flores finished 7th.

Sandra Blajer/Cristina Flores (UH) lost Bentley/Koppelle (Alabama) 1-8
Sandra Blajer/Cristina Flores (UH) def. Bucewicz/Sha (Louisiana-Monroe) 8-2
The Cougars will begin first round singles play on Saturday morning. The Cougars will return to Houston October 11-13 as they host nine teams in the 2002 Cougar Fall Classic at the John E. Hoff/Varsity Tennis Courts on UH's campus.
