Cougar Softball Takes Third Game From Billikens

Saint Louis, Missouri - The Cougar softball team (30-20, 7-10) took the third game of their Conference USA series over the Billikens (21-23, 5-13), despite rain delay in Saint Louis on Sunday 7-1.
The Billikens took the lead by one in the bottom of the first inning, but the Cougars came back to take back the lead in the bottom of the third. In the top of the inning the rain started coming down and the Cougars hitting came in with the front. Kim Nesloney started the rally with a triple down the left field line. Leslie Seay walked and Riane Netardus sacrificed her over, scoring Nesloney to tie up the score.
Ali McDougall singled to right field and scored Seay from second. Ray Ferreris walked in her up at bat followed by the second triple of the inning by Kristen Glowacz scoring the two remaining base runners. The Cougars led at the rain delay 4-1.
Returning to play after a 49 minute delay, ths Cougars finished up the top of the third with a three run lead (4-1). The Cougars were a little damped by the weather until the top of the seventh inning. Riane Netardus reached on an error and Ali McDougall was hit by a pitch and was knocked in by Glowacz scoring two runs. Jenilee Skender brought in the final run of the game for the Cougars and the final score 7-1.
The winning pitcher for the day was Jenny Johnson who improves to 12-9 for the year. Jamie Falco earns the save for the Cougars her first of the year. The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday at Stephen F. Austin.
