Cougar Softball Dominates Panthers

Houston, Texas - The Houston Cougars (25-16) shutout the Panthers of Prairie View A&M (12-17) 12-0, in a single game this afternoon.
The Cougars stepped in the box ready to go in their single game today against Prairie View A&M. The hitting started with a round-tripper by Amber King. Kristen Glowacz and Ray Ferreris singled and the second homerun was hit out of center field by Candis Turnbo to finish the hitting in the first inning. The Cougars led after the first inning, 4-0.
The Cougars scored four runs again in the second inning, begun by back-to-back singles from Melissa Lynch, Durham and Kim Nesloney. Kristen Glowacz knocked in Nesloney with a double to left field and Keri Kubala ended the inning with her first homerun of the year to center. At the bottom of two, the score 8-0.
Lindsay Durham led the charge in the bottom of the third followed by the second single of the game by Nesloney. The second homerun of the game and the season for King followed earning her three RBIs and Glowacz closed out the game for the Cougars with her sixth homerun of the year.
The Panthers finished the game hitless, thanks to a diving catch by Durham in right field in the fourth. Pitcher Jenny Johnson earned the no-hitter, and added nine strikouts to make her season total 135. Johnson's win moved her to 9-8 on the season, tying her career record for wins.
The Cougars will be back in action at Cougar Softball Complex April 6 and 7 for their conference series against East Carolina, both games will begin at 1:00pm with a double header on Saturday.
