Cougar Tennis Downs Charlotte to advance at C-USA Championships

Fort Worth, Texas - Houston's four singles victories proved to be invaluable as the fourth-seeded Cougars downed 13th-seeded Charlotte, 4-3 in the first round of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship on Thursday.

Jen Baccarani led the way for the Cougar singles matches defeating Laura Swain 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-2. Jo Keene took the win from Alice Hansen in three sets to increase her win total to16. Analia Longoni challenged Jana Cucciniello and earned the win after one. Kailey Meisinger earned her third win of the year over Jennifer Hatch in three sets.

Houston will meet the winner of the Tulane-East Carolina first round match Friday at 12 p.m. The Green Wave and Pirates got underway at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
