The University of Houston football team will wrap up its annual spring practice with the Red-White Game on Saturday, April 13, at John O?Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1 pm, and all UH fans are encouraged to attend free of charge.
The Cougars began spring practice back on March 20 and have participated in three scrimmages and a slew of practices since then. During the last scrimmage this past Saturday, the Cougar running game got cranking, as fullback Tim Feathers chewed up 108 yards on just eight carries.
UH returns 15 starters from last year?s team, including seven on offense (one is 2000 starter KeyKowa Bell who missed most of last season with an injury), six on defense and two specialists. UH head coach Dana Dimel has 22 redshirts at his disposal for the spring game, and many of these redshirt freshmen are battling for starting positions as spring winds down.
The Cougars will look to break into the win column on August 31, when UH plays cross-town rival, Rice, at Rice Stadium. Houston then returns ?The Quinn? the following week and at the same time opens up Conference USA action by playing host to Tulane on September 7, in its home opener.
