Cougar Softball Suffers Demise by Hand of FIU Panthers

Plant City, Florida - The Cougars began the second half of their road trip to Florida today with a tough loss 3-2 to the Florida International. The Cougars enter the second game of the tournament with a record of and 16-9 and the Panthers are now 17-14 with the win.
He game began with the Golden Panthers advancing three runners home on a walk, an error and two hits by Florida International's Jennnifer Owens and Kristen Perry.
The Cougars countered in the bottom of the inning scoring Leslie Seay on a sacrifice fly into deep left by Ray Ferreris. Both Seay and Riane Netardus reached base on hits in the inning. In the second the Cougars scored their second run on a solo homerun by Kristen Glowacz, making the score 3-2 Panthers.
After the runs scored in the second inning the score remained the same into the top of the seventh and through the end of the game. The Houston Cougars were unable to put up the extra run needed to advance their win total.
The pitcher for the Cougars today was Jamie Falco, her record now 8-2. She threw 6 strike outs in 27 batters faced in today's game. The Cougars finish with 5 hits and only 2 errors. The team is scheduled to play again at 7:00pm against the Cougars of Brigham Young.
