Cougar Softball Shuts Out Demons

Lafayette, Louisiana - Houston softball decided to take control in the first game of the Lady Cajun Invitational Tournament this weekend as the Cougars took the lead in the first inning and held on strong until the end beating the Demons of Northwestern State 6-0. The winning pitcher for the Cougars was Jamie Falco, who moves to 6-0 for the season. There were only two hits against Falco in the game and she struck out seven batters.
The two runs in the first inning were scored on back-to-back singles by Leslie Seay, Riane Netardus and Ali McDougal and were knocked in by Kim Cote and McDougal. The third run was also scored by Seay. She singled, stole second, was moved over by Riane Netardus and was finally moved across the plate by a bunt by clean up batter Ray Ferreris.
The fourth run was scored the third homerun of the year by Kim Cote. Making the score 4-0. Immediately after Cote's long ball Kristen Glowacz got her first hit of the game, a single just past the short stop. Jenilee Skender came in to pinch hit and knocked her third homerun out of the park, scoring two. The final score of the game versus the Demons of Northwestern State, 6-0
