After shooting 81.3 percent from the field for a game-high 37 points en route to leading the Lady Cougars to an upset 81-78 victory over No. 20 Georgia on Dec. 20, junior All-American Chandi Jones has been named Conference USA Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 22.
Jones' 81.3 (13-of-16) field goal percentage against Georgia was the tenth-best field goal percentage in a single game in Lady Cougar history, while the 37 points scored marked the fifth time this season Jones has registered 30-or-more points in a game.
In addition, Jones was 5-of-6 (83.3 percent) from the arc, the best three-point field goal percentage in school history. She led all players with four steals, added one block and two assists while being the lone player to be on the court all 40 minutes of regulation.
This week's honor marks the second time this season and sixth of her career Jones has earned Player of the Week honors. She shared Co-Player of the Week honors with East Carolina's Jennifer Jackson earlier this month on Dec. 8. The All-American guard was named the 2002 C-USA Player of the Year and 2002-03 C-USA Preseason Player of the Year.
