HOUSTON - University of Houston baseball head coach Rayner Noble announced the signing of seven players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period on Wednesday.
The class features four pitchers, two infielders and an outfielder. In addition, it is comprised of six freshmen and one junior college product.
"This was going to be a pitching-heavy class," said UH assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Todd Whitting. "All of these players can come in and be impact guys right away for us."
The pitching group includes righthanders Brad Lincoln (Brazoswood High), Brad Depoy (The Woodlands High) and Shea Hancock (Langham Creek High) as well as southpaw Clint Goocher (San Jacinto Junior College).
Kyle Rudy (Arlington-Martin High) and Patrick Gaylord (Katy-Taylor High) will add depth to the Cougar infield in 2004, while Jake Stewart (Santa Fe High) was the Cougars' lone signee in the outfield.
"We solidified our depth in the infield and added some team speed," Whitting said.
