HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will continue its campaign for a 21st consecutive winning season with two Conference USA matches on the road against DePaul and Marquette.
The Cougars (14-7, 4-2 C-USA) will face the Blue Demons (5-20, 1-7 C-USA), who were 2001 C-USA Tournament Champions, Nov. 1 at the Athletic Center in Chicago. Houston will then meet the Golden Eagles (10-11, 1-7 C-USA) Nov. 2 at Marquette Gym in Milwaukee. Both matches are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
The Cougars have lost only three of their last 10 matches (Saint Louis, Rice and South Florida) and are currently fifth in C-USA standings.
Houston is led by two-time 2002 C-USA Player of the Week Jenny Tanneberger. The 6-0 senior middle hitter leads the squad in kills (369), attack percentage (.329) and blocks (77) in 21 matches this season. Her 41-kill performance on Oct. 12 against Saint Louis surpassed the all-time school record and tied the C-USA and Division I match high for 2002.
Middle hitter Loure Dews, who injured her plantar fascia two weeks ago, is expected to see action this weekend. Outside hitter Jane Anne Karasek is still rehabilitating a fractured left arm and may be back for the 2002 C-USA Tournament to be held Nov. 22-25 in Chicago.
Action returns to Hofheinz Pavilion Nov. 8 as Houston battles Louisville in C-USA match-up at 7:30 p.m.
