The University of Houston participated in the 2002 Spring Klein Expo October 12-13 at Spring Klein, Texas. Houston took three wins against Texas A&M, Southwest Texas State and Navarro JC, but lost out to Sam Houston State, Texas-El Paso and Baylor.
vs. Texas A&M -- W, 2-0
In their first-ever victory over Texas A&M, Houston's Jenny Johnson completed a game shutout with two hits, three K's, and 0 walks. Amber King singled and Kristen Glowacz had the game winning double in the fifth.
vs. Sam Houston State -- L, 3-5
Sam Houston State won over Houston 5-3. Kim Nesloney went 3-3 with a double and Jenilee Skender was 2-3.
vs. University of Texas El Paso -- L, 0-5
vs. Southwest Texas State -- W, 3-2
Crystal Briscoe completed the game with 9 K's. Skender had one HR and two RBI's. Michelle Keith went 2-2.
vs. Baylor -- L, 1-2
Brooke Johnson was on base three times and scored the Cougars only run after leading off the game with a double. Arelis Ferreris was 2-3.
vs. Navarro JC -- W, 2-0
Crystal Briscoe completed the game shutout with nine K's, two hits, and one walk. Skender and King each hit a homerun and Jaci Gonzalez was 1-2 in her debut as a Cougar softball player.
