HOUSTON, Texas - Fans of the University of Houston baseball team will be able to catch their first glimpse of the team off the field Wednesday as the team takes part in the annual Silver Glove Luncheon.
The luncheon, scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., will be held at Frankie B. Mandola's Steaks & Burgers, on Kirby between Sunset and Bissonnet.
The luncheon is free and open to the public, which is invited to attend. However, fans must pay their own costs if they choose to eat lunch.
The Silver Glove Series highlights the five games during the regular season played between the Cougars and crosstown rival Rice. Players and coaches from both universities will be on hand at the luncheon Wednesday.
Houston, fresh off its third straight NCAA Regional appearance and its fifth straight finish among the top two Conference USA leaders in 2001, starts the 2002 season at the Astros College Classic on Feb. 8 against Baylor at Enron Field.
