The University of Houston football game versus the University of Georgia has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 1, in Athens, Ga. Kickoff will remain at 1 p.m. EST.
The game was originally slated for kickoff this past Saturday but was postponed due to the tragic events of last Tuesday. The path for rescheduling was cleared Monday when the Southeastern Conference officially moved the SEC Championship Game from December 1 to December 8.
"We are pleased we are able to work this game out with Georgia," commented Larry Leckonby, UH's Interim Athletics Director. "For both parties involved I think it is great we found a way to play this game. Coach Dooley (UGA's Director of Athletics Vince Dooley) and I have been working the phones for the past several days, and I am glad everything is going to work out.
"We look forward to meeting up with the Bulldogs in December."
This December contest marks the first time the Cougars have played a game this late in the season since facing Syracuse in the 1996 Liberty Bowl on December 27. The year before the Cougars played their last regular-season game in December, when UH faced Rice in the last game in Southwest Conference history on December 2.
