Hyung Cho Named C-USA Hitter Of The Week

University of Houston true freshman third baseman Hyung Cho was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week the league office announced on Monday, May 7. Cho batted a composite .615 (8-for-13) to help the Cougars sweep league rival Saint Louis and remain in a tie for first place in the C-USA standings.
In addition to having at least two hits and two runs scored every game, Cho also had a double in every game of the series. He drove in a team-best six runs and posted a team-high 11 total bases. The true freshman from Toronto, Canada, finished the series with a .846 slugging percentage and .643 on-base percentage. Cho also recorded one stolen base on the Billikens.
He is the second Cougar to hitter to win the award this season after Josh Snook was also honored back in February. Freshman pitcher Austin Faught won Pitcher of Week twice in the month of March.
The baseball team, 28-23 overall and 19-5 in conference, begins a four-game road trip to close out the 2001 regular season. Houston faces crosstown rival Rice at the Owls' Reckling Park on Wednesday, May 9. The Cougars then face C-USA rival South Florida for three games in Tampa. UH will later compete in the C-USA Tournament May 16-20 in New Orleans.
