Jasmine Jackson Finishes Sixth In Long Jump At Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa.- - University of Houston sophomore Jasmine Jackson and senior Jackie Rzepecki had their best performances of the season to lead Houston's women's track and field team at the Penn Relays on April 28-30.
Jackson finished sixth in the Collegiate Women's Long Jump Division with her season-best leap of 19 feet. She improved her mark by over six inches.
Meanwhile, Rzepecki also improved her season-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by nearly eight seconds when she finished in 11th place with a time of 10:46.16. She was named the Conference USA's Women's Athlete-of-the-Week earlier this year after winning the steeplechase at the Tom Tellez Invitational with a time of 10:54.48.
In addition, sophomore Lauren Smith recorded a time of 14.09 seconds to finish fourth in the fourth heat of the 100-meter hurdles. Smith also had the 17th-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles when she finished fifth in the second heat in 61.17 seconds.
Latoya Reed was 29th overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 62.29 seconds.
Houston's 4x100-meter relay team finished seventh in the college women's championship with a time of 45.78 seconds. The Lady Cougars also ran 3:45.95 in the prelims of the college women's 4x400-meter relay championship.
