Cougar Baseball Falls At Federal Express C-USA Tournament

New Orleans, LA -- The University of Houston baseball team fell victim to a late Louisville rally on the second day of the Federal Express Conference USA Baseball Tournament in New Orleans, La. The Cardinals overcame a 5-1 deficit to claim a 6-5 win in Thursday's morning game. With the loss, the defending champions have bowed out of the double-elimination tournament which concludes on Sunday. The Cougars had another solid outing on the mound from First Team All-Conference USA selection Brad Sullivan, who scattered eight hits and a walk while tying a career-high with nine strikeouts. Though Houston had an early 5-1 lead, Louisville rallied for runs in the fifth, one in the eighth. In the ninth UL loaded the bases on a hit and two walks. The Cougars then walked in the tying run and hit the next batter for a 6-5 final score. Houston fell to 29-28 while Louisville improved to 32-28. The tournament continues through Sunday.
