The University of Houston softball team suffered its third-straight loss of the season Sunday afternoon to Stephen F. Austin State by a score of 6-2 in the consolation game of the UH Invitational Tournament. The Cougars now fall to 4-8 overall on the season.
SFA scored three runs in the first five innings and then added another three runs in the final frame. With two runners on base, junior shortstop Mimi Van Ryn singled to knock in the Ladyjacks' first run of the game. Houston got on the board with one run in the bottom of that inning and again in the bottom of the third, but SFA would increase its lead scoring one run in the top of the fifth and another three runs in the top of the seventh. Overall the Cougars posted just five hits, and could not overcome the early deficit.
UH is next in action on Wednesday, February 21, as they travel to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies for a 7:00 p.m. match up.
