The Cougars Win Their Fifth Straight Over Tulane Green Wave

Houston, Texas - The Cougars took a huge win over the Green Wave of Tulane 2-0 in the last home match of the year for the Cougars. The Cougars improve to 7-8-1 and 5-4 in Conference and Tulane is now 8-5 with a 6-3 record in Conference play.
The Cougars honored their seniors today before the game in a short ceremony. This was the last home game of these senior's careers, after beginning the program in 1998.
The game was scoreless in the first half. The first goal was finally scored at 67:59 during a scramble at the Green Wave goal. The first shot was taken be Senior Carrie Evans, but deflected by Tulane's goalie Sara Simpson. The defected ball found the feet of Senior Laura Repp for the score, who now lead the team with five season goals.
Both teams continued to push for possession and chance to score. The Cougars won possession of the ball with less than eight minutes remaining on a corner kick. Kara Bullinger took the kick for the Cougars, putting the ball in perfect position for Carrie Evans who headed the ball into the goal. The score was then 2-0.
Tulane was unable to counter the Cougars goals. The final score 2-0. This makes the fourth shutout of the year for the Cougar defenders and Robin Cate in the goal. This was a great to close out the careers of the Cougars ten great seniors.
Cougars will finish the regular season next Friday in Fort Worth against TCU at 7:00pm
