Sarah Borwell Wins Southwest Regional Tournament

Fort Worth, Texas - Fort Worth, Texas - Sarah Borwell won the Finals for the Southwest Regional Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday. Sarah Borwell was the third seed overall in the tournament and has beaten six opponents to make it to the Finals. She defeated Marjorie Terburgh from Texas A&M 6-2: 6-2 in the third round, then defeated TCU's Paty Aburto 6-3: 6-4 to move into the quarterfinals. Saturday she beat Vida Mulic from Baylor and in the semi's yesterday knocked out Vladka Uhlirova for her spot in the Finals today.
Borwell played Katja Kovac from Baylor today in the Championship match at 10:00am and won the match 6-0, 6-4. With the Championship under her belt, Borwell qualified for the Rolex National Indoor Tournament to be held in Dallas November 8-11. This is one of the three major national events of the season. This is an invite tournament only, qualifications for the invitation are: You must finish in the top two of one of the regional tournaments of that season. This is a very prestigious and exclusive event.
