HOUSTON, TX -- The University of Houston women's soccer team (0-2, 0-0 C-USA) lost to SMU (2-0, 0-0 WAC) by a score of 9-3 Sunday afternoon.
Although it was the second loss of the weekend, head coach Bill Solberg had positive words for his young team. "We'll have to be more aggressive," he said. "I think that is something we will improve on."
SMU scored their first goal on a penalty kick made by forward Sarah Harvey at the 7:37 mark.
Just one minute later, Houston would respond as freshman forward Nicole Aubuchon scored on an assist from forward Kristen Hogan to tie the game at 1-1. Though the Cougars headed into half-time only down by two goals (4-2), the No. 15 ranked Mustangs proved to be too much in the second half scoring five goals to Houston's one.
The Lady Cougars look to put a win on their record Friday, Sept. 1 when they travel to El Paso to face UTEP Miners. They then travel to Austin to face Texas on Sunday, Sept. 3.
