The UH varsity posted a 15-8, 15-7, 15-10, 15-7, 15-6 win over an alumnae team that featured a host of all-league honorees from the Southwest Conference and Conference USA. The Cougar varsity was led by senior trio of Michelle Frazier, Bobbi Stewart and Jennifer Wittenburg. In addition to leading all players with 25 kills, Wittenburg also posted a .429 hitting percentage in 42 attempts. Stewart spiked 15 kills in 38 attempts for a .395 percentage. Frazier, a native of Kingwood, Texas, who was named the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, totaled 12 kills and hit .435 on the day.
The alumnae team was paced by former All-American Lilly Denoons 17 kills. Latisha Brown, a member of the SWC All-Decade Team for the 1980s, added 11 kills in the annual exhibition.
Not only was the reunion a chance for the former players to get together and meet the current Cougar squad, the exhibition match gave the UH varsity some needed preparation for a tough upcoming schedule.
