Cougar Baseball Team Adds Five Early Signees

The signees include Jarred Ball of Tomball, Texas; Cameron Blair of Highland Park, Texas; Brett Logan of Brenham, Texas; Austin Sumerlin of Houston and Ryan Wagner of Yoakum, Texas.
Wagner is a right-handed pitcher from Yoakum High School. He earned All-District 29-3A accolades in both baseball and football for the Bulldogs. Sumerlin, also a right-handed pitcher, is a two-timw First Team All-District 21-5A selection from Spring Woods High School last season. He was a battery-mate of current Cougar catcher Chris Snyder.
Brett Logan is a catcher currently in his senior season Brenham High School. Cameron Blair is a versatile infielder from High Park High School in north Texas. Jarred Ball earned All-District 15-5A honors as an outfielder at Tomball High School. The five will enroll at UH in the fall of 2001. Their first season of competition would begin in the spring of 2002.
Last season the UH baseball team won a school record 48 games on the way to winning both the Conference USA regular season and post-season tournament championships as well as the Houston Regional held at Cougar Field.
