Houston Women's Soccer Clenches Conference USA Tournament Bid

HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Houston women's soccer team defeated Memphis 3-0 Sunday afternoon in its final regular season match. The Cougars complete the regular season with a 9-8-1 overall record and a 5-5-1 record in league play. The Tigers conclude the regular season 8-10 and 3-8 in conference.
Though both teams remained scoreless going into half-time, Houston quickly picked up its intensity scoring three goals within the first 20 minutes of the second half. Houston sophomore Kristen Hogan knocked in her ninth goal of the season when she slid one past Memphis goalkeeper Katarina Wicksell at 51:48. At 64:29, junior Melissa Raymer scored her second goal of the season to put the Cougars up 2-0. Both Raymer and Hogan then assisted on the next UH goal passing to sophomore Lindsay Beiriger at 77:28 to make the final score of the game 3-0.
The Cougars will have one week off while awaiting the conclusion of other Conference USA regular season action. The conference post-season tournament will held Nov. 1-4 in Saint Louis, Mo.
