Matt Vincent joined the Houston Athletics staff in September 2024 as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
In this role, he serves on the department’s executive administration team, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Compliance Office. Vincent ensures that Houston meets NCAA standards, conducts rules education for coaches and student-athletes, prepares and submits waivers to the NCAA, and collaborates with campus and conference partners.

Vincent brings extensive experience from his tenure at Sacramento State, where he held the same position from 2018 to 2024. A native of Northern California, he previously served as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., where he was the primary compliance contact for several sports, including men’s basketball, men’s soccer, field hockey, women’s lacrosse, and women’s tennis.

His career also includes roles as Assistant AD for Compliance at Southern Illinois (2013-2015), Assistant Director for Compliance at Ole Miss (2009-2013), and an internship in compliance at Central Michigan (2008-2009).

Raised in Turlock, Calif., Vincent graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California (SMC) with a degree in kinesiology. He played three seasons of football for the Gaels as an offensive lineman before transferring to New Mexico State for his senior season after SMC discontinued the sport. He earned a master’s degree in higher education administration from Southeast Missouri State, where he also served as a graduate assistant coach for the football program.

Matt and his wife Erika, a former basketball player at Saint Mary’s College, have two children: Uma and Magnus.
