Luis Mendoza joined the University of Houston Football Equipment staff as an assistant equipment manager in 2026.

At Houston, Mendoza assists with all aspects of the Houston Football equipment operations, including equipment preparation and maintenance, practice and game-day operations, team travel, and the daily support of student-athletes and coaching staff.

Mendoza, who is a native of Mission, Texas, began his equipment management career at Texas State, serving as a student manager while earning his bachelor's degree in 2020.

Following graduation, he remained with the Bobcats as an assistant equipment manager through 2023, where he supported the day-to-day operations of the football program, including equipment maintenance, travel, practice setup, and game-day operations.

Mendoza was named head equipment manager at Texas-Rio Grande Valley in 2023 and played an integral role in building the Vaqueros' inaugural football program.

He establisedh all facets of the equipment operation, including inventory systems, locker room organization, equipment purchasing, practice and competition logistics, and operational procedures as the program prepared for its first season.
