Dr. Jason Porter

Dr. Jason Porter is the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for the University of Houston (UH). Appointed by the President, he serves as a liaison between the university and the athletics department and as a representative of UH in conference and NCAA academic endeavors.
Jason is an Associate Professor in Vision Sciences (within the UH College of Optometry) with a joint appointment in Biomedical Engineering. He has been at UH for over 18 years. Jason earned his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Optics from the University of Rochester, where he also competed on the men’s tennis team and was a second-team academic all-american.
Jason and his wife, Jennifer, enjoy cheering on the Coogs at UH sporting events along with their son and daughter (who are a budding swimmer and dancer, respectively).
