• Jordy Joseph joined University of Houston Football in January 2024 as its Running Backs Coach. The 2025 season will be his second with the Cougars. Joseph, who spent five seasons working for Head Coach Willie Fritz at Tulane, joined Houston following three seasons at Southern Miss.
• During 2024, Houston's youthful running backs room rushed for 201 more yards than a season prior. Three of Houston's top four backs were freshmen including redshirt freshman Re'Shaun Sanford II who paced the Cougars with 444 rushing yards and was one of five FBS freshmen with 400+ rushing yards and 150+ receiving yards on the season.
• Houston and Louisville were the only two programs nationally to have three freshman running backs produce 150+ all-purpose yards during 2024. J'Marion Burnette's 116 rushing yards after contact led all Big 12 true freshmen backs. DJ Butler's 76.8 PFF run grade was second among Big 12 true freshmen backs (min. 15 rushes) and his 4.88 yards after contact per attempt ranked third among Power Four true freshman backs (min. 15 rushes).
• Meanwhile, junior Stacy Sneed finished third on the team 308 rushing yards. Sneed rushed for 5.0+ yards per carry for a third straight season, becoming the first UH back with 5.0+ yards/carry (min. 45 carries) in three straight years since Kenneth Farrow in four straight (2012-15).
• At Southern Miss, Joseph helped guide Frank Gore Jr. to record-setting success. Gore Jr. rushed for 1,482 yards in 2022 – the most for the program in 15 seasons (Damion Fletcher; 2007). Gore averaged 6.06 yards per play (23rd in the nation) and 106.3 yards per game (16th in the nation). In the LendingTree Bowl against Rice, Gore broke the NCAA bowl game rushing record with a 328-yard performance.
• That season, Joseph's group totaled 1,718 yards on the ground, an average of 139.4 yards per game, and accounted for 14 rushing touchdowns on the year. The running back room also hauled in 40 passes for 371 yards and a touchdown. Joseph spent the 2023 season as Quarterbacks Coach.
• During his first year with the Golden Eagles, Joseph oversaw Gore Jr., who led the team in rushing with 801 yards on 179 carries while earning All-Conference USA Honorable Mention. His rushing yards were the most by a Southern Miss running back in the last four seasons. Redshirt freshman Dajon Richard ended the year with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games of his own to give the Golden Eagles a total of four during the year.
• In 2021, Southern Miss transitioned into a “SuperBack” offense after top Golden Eagle quarterbacks were injured. Over the final three games, the Golden Eagles enjoyed two of their top three rushing outputs, averaging 214.3 yards per contest over that span. Golden Eagle running backs also threw for 215 yards on 20-of-28 passing with four touchdown passes and only two interceptions.
• Joseph spent the 2016-20 seasons on Tulane’s staff following a five-year playing career with the Green Wave. After spending his first four seasons as a walk-on quarterback, Joseph earned a scholarship as a senior.
• He spent the 2018-20 seasons as an offensive analyst. During the three-season stretch, Tulane ranked eighth nationally in rushing first downs (435), ninth in rushing yards (8,632) and 10th in rushing touchdowns (94). The Green Wave’s 1,195 points and 15,811 total yards ranked 21st and 26th in the FBS, respectively. Tulane logged 21 games with 200+ rushing yards (10th nationally), 15 games with 250+ rushing yards (7th nationally) and 10 games with 300+ rushing yards (8th nationally).
• In 2020, Tulane paced The American and ranked 17th nationally with 217.1 rushing yards per game. The Green Wave’s 32 rushing scores ranked seventh nationally while its 5.1 yards per rush checked in at 22nd in the country. Tulane’s six contests with 200+ yards rushing ranked 10th nationally.
• In 2019, the Green Wave finished the season ranked 11th in the nation in rushing offense (243.2), 22nd in total offense (449.3) and 30th in scoring offense (33.1). Joseph helped the Olive and Blue rush for over 200 yards in nine games in 2019, ranking seventh nationally, and over 300 yards four times, ranking eighth nationally.
• The Tulane offense set the program record in rushing yards at 3,162 yards in 2019. The offense ranked second in program history in rushing yards per game (243.2), rushing touchdowns (33) and rushing first downs (166).
• In 2018, Joseph played a key role in helping the Green Wave offensive unit surpass 400 yards of total offense in eight of their 13 games, including a season-high 535-yard effort against ECU.
• Through Joseph’s assistance, Tulane’s rushing attack once again proved to be one of the nation’s best as the Green Wave averaged 218.2 yards per game, which ranked 23rd nationally.
• Joseph spent the 2016-17 seasons as the Green Wave’s Offensive Graduate Assistant while also assisting with recruiting. In 2017, Joseph played a major role in the team’s 2018 recruiting class, as he helped Tulane secure one of the top recruiting classes in The American.
• Tulane’s 2018 signing class featured three four-star recruits and 18 three-star prospects. The class also featured individuals from eight different states, including eight from the state of Louisiana.
• As a quarterback at Tulane (2011-15), the two-year letterwinner completed 47 of 92 passes (51.1%) for 620 yards and six touchdowns and three interceptions in 11 career games with two starts. He served as a backup during the final portion of his senior season before being thrust into duty in starts vs. Memphis and against Tulsa.
• A native of New Iberia, La., Joseph was a four-year letterman at New Iberia High School where he helped the Yellow Jackets to a combined 25-17 record while earning three trips to the state playoffs.
• Joseph earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the Tulane’s A.B. Freeman School of Business while also earning his Master of Management as well in 2016. He also earned a master’s in liberal arts from Tulane.
