Jordan Burgess joined University of Houston Football in 2021 as Football’s Creative Director. In his role, Burgess oversees all creative content for the program and manages creative assets while overseeing a team of two full-time video production specialists. The 2025 season will be his fifth with the Cougars.
During 2021, in his first season overseeing the social channels, Houston Football saw a 138% growth in interactions. A season later, the Cougars achieved another 30% growth. By the conclusion of the 2022 season, Houston’s social platforms had gained 50,000+ total followers.
Since 2021, Burgess has served as the lead photographer and graphic designer.
Burgess came to Houston from Baylor where he spent 2019-21 as Visual Media Specialist for the Bears program. There, he developed social strategy which increased interactions on Instagram by 50% while operating as the lead graphic designer and photographer for the program.
Baylor’s social presence grew by tens of thousands in the course of just one season highlighted by initiatives such as the 2020 NSD puppets theme which was featured by ESPN. Burgess created Baylor’s official TikTok channel. Additionally, he documented practices, designed preseason content shoots and performed recruit photo shoots.
At Houston, as well as Baylor, Burgess edited and uploaded named photos to INFLCR for student-athlete use to assist in brand building and management.
Burgess spent 2017-19 as Delaware’s Lead Graphic Designer where he was responsible for all graphic design elements for Athletics. He developed marketing items for billboards, banners, digital ads, print ads and in-house facility projects while creating a unique brand look across all social media and marketing platforms.
He began his career at Richmond, serving as Lead Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator from 2016-17. During his time there, the Spiders landed in the SkullSparks’ FCS Top 25 for Visual Design. He oversaw all graphic design operations and conducted promotional, email, recruiting, digital, print and social media graphics and coordinated the overall look for graphics on social media accounts, contributing to a 30% boost in engagement. Burgess also managed social media, email marketing, and contributed to a 100% increase in engagement for Spider Basketball on Facebook.
Burgess received his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2014 and his Master of Sport Management in 2016. While with the Golden Eagles, he served as a Sports Marketing Intern and Sports Marketing Graduate Assistant.
