Flynn Munroe was elevated to Assistant Director of Equipment Operations for Football and Golf in June 2023 after starting at Houston as an Equipment Intern in 2021.
As the Assistant Director for Equipment Operations, Munroe collaborates with the Assistant Athletic Director of Equipment on all aspects of the football program's equipment needs including but not limited to handling the equipment budget, managing inventory, forecasting orders for future student-athletes and staff, preparing for recruiting events, fitting protective equipment and ensuring all apparel items are sanitized, sorted and distributed to assigned personnel.
Munroe also is in charge of all golf related equipment needs for the 16-time national champion men’s team and the back-to-back NCAA Regional qualifying women’s team. He is responsible for ordering and customization of all golf apparel and accessories and miscellaneous facility and equipment updates at the Golf Club of Houston – the Cougars’ home golf course.
He also manages all embellishment of apparel for football student-athletes and staff and handles the day-to-day upkeep, inventory and reconditioning of all helmets and shoulder pads.
As an intern, Munroe was responsible for the packing and distribution of game day clothing to the coaching staff and support staff as well as setting up, troubleshooting and testing the press box CoachComm system.
Before his time in Houston, Munroe was the Assistant Equipment Manager and then Interim Head Football Equipment Manager at Austin Peay from August 2020 – May 2021. During his time in Clarksville, he assisted with helmet, shoulder pads and apparel inventory and managed the student equipment managers including but not limited to the hiring process, scholarship and budget allotment and scheduling of student group.
A student-manager at his alma mater, he assisted Penn State’s equipment staff during the Nittany Lions’ 2016 Big 10 title winning season that culminated in a Rose Bowl berth.
A New Jersey native, Munroe earned his Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management from Penn State.
